ORD!! It Within Reach(I)

Today is a tiring day man.

I just touched down this morning 2 a.m from bangkok and
By the time i reached home and sleep, it 3 a.m.

You guess, I woke up at 7 a.m

I have no idea why I seem to be able to wake up early even when i only sleep 4 hours for the night.
Probably, my biological clock has accustomed to NS already. Hmm...

I just got to know that grandma was admitted to ICU last fri. But my parents only tell me yesterday.
Fortunately, my grandma is recovering now.

Anyway, I have alot of photos for my last overseas trip.
Here are some of them. And I will go through the chronicles of my trip as i go along with the pics

Day 1

Here we are at Changi International Airport. Don't judge us based on appearance, underneath the facades, we are very unwilling to embark for Thailand.
Everyone was hoping that the political turoil in Thailand will turn for the worse. But clearly, it didn't. Therefore, our fate is sealed.

Brynner and I at the waiting lounge

My wonderful Detachment 4, Never Late, Never Lost

Ben Zee, this is for you, I know that you will definitly drop by. =p

Waiting to take off. Hmm, our fate is sealed

Day 2-5

Apparently, there is some delay for the containers much to the delights of us trainees. Thus, for that span of 4 days, we did literally nothing. Everybody is just lazing and bumping around. Sleeping in the bunk which seems like oven. That fuck up man. And it there when homesickness kicks in, there is nothing to pre-occupie us.

we can only cam whore during that period

Day 6-7

NAVEX!!!
It the most anticipated exercise. I assume that the only exercise whereby everybody looks forward to. No government, no restriction and regulations. Oops, there is rules, but nobody gives a fuck about that. haha
Vehicles were taken, Foods were bought from ninja vans etc... All hell break loose!
Ironically, vehicles were taken by teams that always advocate integrity values. Hmmm, so much for integrity issue. And eventually, they were the best loser(2nd place)
Let drop that topic man.

For my navex, my team didnt take any transport even though we bought food. Still Kudos to my team because we managed to come out on that same day. To think that initially, my team was prepared to harbour for 1 night, being able to extricate on the same day was definitely a bonus.

everybody was feeling exuberant

My beloved Team 7

Look at the scenary, it so calming and splendid

The road is just never ending, we walked a total of 26km

Day 8 - 14

Straight after the Navex exercise, we embarked for our exercise Humming bird, the real test for everyone. We have to stay outside in the wild for straight 7 days, surviving solely on combat raions which sucks totally. That is even worse than our BMT outfield. At least we got fresh rations on the 6th days of BMT.

Anyway, come to think about it now, everyone has made it through. Thus, it achievable.

Sadly for my team, we got the highest hill to set our OP and it freaking 191m tall. Think about the resup, we have to scaled the hill with SBO, weapon and jerry can(20kg) every other day.

It really gives you a pair of Daniel Ting thigh.

Can you see the chopper behind, that what we are taking

Civilian, Here I Come

It less than 2 months before I ORD. It 1 month and 22 days to be exact. =)

Anyway, I going to have a long break until wednesday before I have to report back to camp at night.

So many things I am going to do during this break. I am a happy man!!

On the other note, I still have to go Thailand before I ord. Nonetheless, It going to be my last overseas trip in my NSFs days.

OLYMPICS medal!!!

Alas, the women table tennis team is on track to win Singapore first ever Olympic medal in 48 years.
Kudos to them even though there are much debates on whether we should proud of the team when none of them are pure Singaporeans.
Anyway, great fighting spirit shown yesterday when all the points were being exchanged closely between the 2 sides.
Credits must also be given to T.W Feng for her efforts in securing Singapore a place in final almost single-handedly. She had tamed Dang in the 1st match who continued to demolish our Wang in the 4th match.
They have put all the Singaporeans who were watching the live telecast yesterday on a roller coaster ride man. We cheered when we scored a point and let out groan of disappointment when the koreans scored.
On a side note, I think that korean style of playing is so boring and monotonous. All the chopping and defending. Just don't enjoy watching them play table tennis.

Well. the colour of the medal will be decided on Sunday when they are pitted against the formidable Chinese team. Nonetheless, all the best to our paddlers.

Technology has alway been a amazing thing. It can be utilised to do a myraid of things be it for the good or the bad and nobody will doubt the prowess of technology.
Just look at Wendy Cheng aka xiaxue, it amazing that how she can transform herself from some fugly women to fabulous lady. I mean it just amazing right. How she managed to create a almond shape face out from her oval shape face.
All thanks to technology which enables people to invent a software calls Photoshop.
Apart from this example,
Look at the 2008 Olympic. How many world records have tumbled down and rewritten at the water cube so far? According to the press, the number of world records broken so far is enough to fill 4 pages and it still counting.
Well, that leads me to another topic, whether modern Olympic is able to provide a level platform for competition between athletics as compared to their counterparts in the 1890s. Look at the swimming finals, almost everyone wears the Speedo LZR racer suit which is believed to be able to reduce drag force between the swimmers and water.
For your info, one racer suit doesn't comes cheap, it costs about USD 500. For some swimming federation in third world countries, forking out USD 500 which may be the average annual income of their citizen for a suit is simply insane. Eventually, swimmers from third world will have to settle for a 'lousier' suit and that will put them at disadvantage even before the race commence.
Thus it will be right to say that in modern Olympic, whoever own the most advance and cutting edge technology will win the race to the top of medal tally.

BLEAK Future.-_-'''

Time really flies man.

In a blink of an eye, National Day Parade is just round the corner and my coy has to embarked for LRRP course in 3 weeks time after the parade.

To think that my coy has been bitching and moaning about how boring NDP rehearsals are since June, now everything is going to be over. WAHAHAHHAHA

Okay, let drop about the topic about NDP.

I just realised that It exactly 100 days from now to my ORD date.

Can't believe that I am going to become a civilian man. I mean it just too fast.

I can still remember what happened on my date of enlistment vividly. From the moment when I stepped onto the floor of Pasir ris camp to the time when I had my final lunch with my parents before my parents handed me over to hands of the military.

At that point of time, everyone was unsure about what going to happen to them and what to expect for Basic Military Training.

Now that everything is over already. I can't help laughing at myself for all the stupid things I did while I was a recruit. Still can't forget how we shit in the wilderness with flies clustering around your ass almost instantaneously the moment your facaes came out. Those were the days man.

What I going to say about NS is that it really makes you a better person- it will strengthen your mental strength, shapes your character, improves your PR and makes you fitter with the endless outfields.

Personally, my NSFs days so far have been fufilling. It lets me
-explore the jungle of Brunei,
-endure the extreme weather(up to 40 degree celsius in the day to 20 degrees at night) of Thailand in Full Battle Order trying to navigate to objective,
-enjoys the R&R in Taiwan,
-have a bird eye view of Singapore while sitting on a chinook and C-130 waiting to parachute out.

Which organisation can provide this type of experience?

And most importantly, free of charge! Tell me which other organisation other than SAF can do it?

Before I was enlisted on Jan 2007, I was just liked any other 18 years old Junior College boy who can't stop complaining about the system of NS. And why they should be abolished blah blah....

Not that system of NS has reached the status of perfection now(there still alot to be done to rectify 'wait to rush, rush to wait' symptom and improve the efficiency of whole army)

Right now, after serving about 18 months Of NS already, I think that NS really provides us with once in a lifetime experience.

Okay, that all I going to say about my NS experience so far.

Whether NS is fufiling or a complete waste of time is a very subjective issue. It up to your own interpretation.

To me, it is the former. =)

No More Parachuting!!

It has been a long time since I last updated.

Seems like dust has accumulated to one inch thick.

Anyway, I had my last parachute jump in my NSF life last friday.
I thought I would feel a great sense of euphoria cos I do not have to be involved in such a high risk activity. Afterall, it mandatory for all NSFs commandos to maintain current. Since they alter the currency duration from 6 monhs to a year, this mean that I will be current all the way till I ORD.

Apparently, I weren't as happy as i thought to be. I have no idea why man. ha

Coincidentally, my last jump seem to be the most exciting of all(i jumped 8 times in total including 1 in thailand).

I nearly landed on safety rover park below. It was close man. It ok that I get injured man but I do not want to pay for the damages inflicted(In ns term, it calls 'sign 1206).

Apparently, I was too concentrated checking around myself for other jumpers that I forget to check my LS.

10 secs before Landing, i begin to hear the all too familiar loud hailer sound below. Guess what! It was the jumpmaster frantically asking me to steer away from the rover.

Nabeh, I panic man. I had only 10 secs to do all the neccessary amendments. After pulling the toggle left and right and meantime remain eye contact with the jumpmaster, I realised I was 5 secs from landing( according to the jump master, he was counting down for me).

Knn. I really quite skeptical about the Jumpmaster analytical skills. Apparently, I landed at the count of 3 while he was counting down from 5.

Totally caught me unprepared man. Since I am safe and sound now, I dont blame him.

That concludes my last jump of my NSFs days*applause*

Recently, I received news that my company going to do lookout duty on weekend. The fucking mas selamat is a CB man. Because of him, my balltelion has been roped in to the Ops Vigilant Lion(OVL). We will been deployed all around the coastal area in Singapore to keep a lookout. Reason being, to prevent him from escaping the lion city.

I dont mind doing security related duty for Singapore esp during some major high profile events such as IMF meeting. But Nabeh, we didnt even know whether the selamat datang is alive not now. I do not want to be involved in a futile effort to locked down on him.(bet you guys have heard about some conspiracy theories going on)

Shitty man.

Anyway, I have to leave man. Going to ECP to recce my lookout site now. Perhaps I will get something other than selamat datang.

Damnit, this is getting exciting man.

Outfield!! Go to hell

It has been a long time since I update my blog.

Seems like my blog has been forgotten. *clearing away the spiderwebs*.

To sum up, January is a hectic month. Outfield everyweek, shag man. And last week, there is 2 outfield. What a way to sum up January and embrace chinese new year.

But fortunately, Feb will be rather a *slow* month. No more outfield. Whee!!! That translates to no more bashing in the forested area.
No more bashing straight into spiderwebs which might house spiders up to the 1/2 the size of your palm.
No more stepping into puddles of mud which will colour my boots brown instantly and make my morale plunge down to zero.
No more walking with signal set(usually it about 10km or more for each outfield)

************************************
Anyway, I will be flying to Thailand on 1st of March for ATEC stage 2 and only be back on the 31st of March.

Hmmm, 1 full month in Thailand, I so going to miss Singapore man. All the civilisation, food and blah blah.

And, I will be able to parachute in Thailand. ha. Once in a lifetime experience. Dont jealous people.
